But before we tell you where to buy this book, we tell you a little about what Cytopathology is
Cytopathology is a branch of pathology that studies and diagnoses diseases at the cellular level. The discipline was founded by George Nicolas Papanicolaou in 1928. Cytopathology is generally used on free cell samples or tissue fragments, in contrast to histopathology, which studies entire tissues.
The science of Cytopathology is discussed in this book written by E. Blair Holladay. The publisher of this book is the American Society for Clinical Pathology and was released on June 1, 2015. The original language was English and now it has been widely translated into various languages.
There have been many scientists who have reviewed this book. One of them we found from the coek.info page conveys the following:
The book serves as a comprehensive learning and self-assessment tool for the training of students in the field of cytology, as well as residents of pathology, cytology colleagues, cytotechnologists, and cytopathologists. Academic settings will find this guide to be a curriculum-building tool that helps with providing questions for assessment and proficiency following learning objectives.
It’s almost the same as the description of the book that we also quoted from the Amazon page. Here’s the information:
The new 4th Edition now brings significant additions and updates, keeping pace with a rapidly evolving field: Significantly expanded in all areas of diagnostic cytopathologyNew and enhanced committee-vetted study questions and imagesCutting-edge chapter added on molecular tumor markers, molecular diagnostics, and theranosticsWith over 1,200 questions and hundreds of high-resolution images, the fourth edition volume is sure to serve as an invaluable and comprehensive self-study reference for pathologists, pathology residents, cytotechnologists, and cytopathologists in training.
If you still feel incomplete with the information we have conveyed, please look for reviews again on the internet. We found some testimonies of people who had already read this book. Some are satisfied and some give some notes.
TheBaron was one of the buyers of this book. Through the Amazon page, he gave his testimonial as follows:
“Overall a good review book for cytopathology. There are a few misses though:
- A few poor quality photographs.
- A few photographs that do not seem to match the morphological description given in the answer. E.g an ‘”Endocervical adenocarcinoma” with columnar morphology that every one of 6 cytopath attendings I showed said looked like HSIL and had no columnar morphology to speak of.
- A few overly aggressive diagnoses especially ASCUS being called LSIL, supposed HSIL but with very low N:C ratio.
- A few under calls.
- A lot of emphasis on examinations that have fallen out of practice (e.g. I have never been asked to perform a hormonal analysis).
- Tubal met pictures without cilia, AGUS with cilia, AGUS that looks like HSIL, etc…
- A few questions with potentially reversed images e.g. a set of radiation dysplasia and radiation changes questions with reversed images.
You won’t find a more comprehensive or exhaustive review book if you can overlook a few weird inconsistencies.”
The same comment with ABham was also made via the Amazon page. In his opinion, this book : “Huge number of questions! Great photo quality as well. The management questions were a great review. Found a few errors, but overall great book.”
